Q&A: Being a Plant Mom with @acesinsquares

Casey Shiffner (@acesinsquares) is a plant mom and self-described crazy plant lady who shares her experiences as both a plant and human mom on her beautifully curated Instagram. Read on for a look into her experiences with our planters as well as child-plant relationships, and even plant troubles!

Many thanks to our interviewer, Elise!

As a human mom as well as a plant mom, do your kiddos engage with your plants? If so, how?Absolutely! My kids even have their own plants that we learn about and take care of together. I find such joy in watching them get excited over new growth.

What’s one plant struggle you’ve experienced, and what did you do about it?

I'd have to say I tend to overly move things around in my home. Furniture, plants… if it's moveable, I move it (haha). Typically this wouldn't be a big deal, but when you have some diva plant life on your hands like the Peace Lily or a FFL you quickly learn that once those plants seem happy in one place, you do yourself a favor and leave them there. I can't seem to grasp that concept.

How would you describe your style, and how do the Wally Eco and Wally Loop fit into that?

I do not live in a huge space; our home is very much on the smaller side and I have two super curious children and 3 active rescue dogs. Wally Eco and Wally Loop are perfect for getting things up off the ground or taking up counter or desk space. They allow me to sort of set and forget in a sense, all while maintaining my plants. They also look amazing and add some character to my rooms.

What do you think about the Wally Loop and why did you install it where you did?

I created myself a small place with great morning/early afternoon Eastern lighting, so I decided they would be wonderful to hang in there with the full plantiful vibe effect.

What plant is on your wishlist and why?

Recently I have been super into Syngoniums, so maybe a fun variety of one of those.
